Hi, I'm Laura...
I'm a freelance surface designer and watercolor artist specializing in creating original artwork for the paper goods and textile industries. I have a background in fashion design, and most recently worked as an in-house print designer for a women's apparel brand, so I have experience with repeats, color indexing, and preparing files for production. I love creating watercolor florals, holiday artwork, and everything in between.

My story.
I have been drawn to art for as long as I can remember. I was born in Colombia, but came to the US as a little girl, and grew up in New Jersey. In high school, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in fashion design, so I moved to Philadelphia and got my fashion design degree, where I fell in love with textiles and computer aided design. After graduation, I spent 11 years working as a colorist for David's Bridal (you might be wondering what that is... I developed color standards for each season and ensured that the color matched to standard in every batch of fabric that was dyed).
I then moved to Columbus, OH after my husband got a job there, and was fortunate enough to land a job as a print and pattern designer for Lane Bryant... my dream job! While there, I re-learned Photoshop and Illustrator, I learned how to put patterns into repeat, and my love for art was re-awakened. I loved going to work every single day!
When the pandemic hit, I unfortunately lost my job, and we made the decision to move back to the Philadelphia area. I am now a stay-at-home mom to my small kids, and I draw and paint and design every chance I get. I also love to read (I'm a huge Harry Potter fan!), and was an avid knitter for years. I own about 13 pairs of my own hand-knit socks, and countless shawls.
I find inspiration in the world around me (especially flowers!), in my kids, and in everyday life. My designs are vibrant and painterly, with a delicate and feminine touch. I love to design for the stationery and gift wrap markets, with a bit of fabric and home decor thrown in.
